Does ChatVault send my ChatGPT data to a server?

No. ChatVault stores saved insights locally in your browser. ChatVault does not send your ChatGPT conversation data to a ChatVault server. ChatVault does not operate a backend server for the MVP.

Do I need an account?

No. ChatVault is local-first. No account is required, and there is no ChatVault sign-in for the MVP.

What happens if I forget my encrypted vault passphrase?

If you forget your passphrase, ChatVault cannot recover your encrypted vault. Your passphrase is not stored by ChatVault. Keep a backup of your passphrase and export JSON backups regularly if you need a recovery option you control.

Can I export my saved insights?

Yes. You can export and import JSON backups so you stay in control of your saved insights.

Is ChatVault affiliated with OpenAI?

No. ChatVault is not affiliated with OpenAI or ChatGPT.

Does ChatVault work outside ChatGPT?

The current MVP is for ChatGPT only. Support for other AI chat products is not available in this version.
